This is a list of some FIDER accredited interior design schools in the United States.

Algonquin College
The Interior Design Program in Algonquin College is a four year, full-time course for students aspiring to engage in a professional career in design. This institution has degrees in Diploma in Interior Design and Bachelor of Applied Arts in Interior Design. Professional studies are integrated with general study content in their curriculum, focusing on applied research and critical thinking.

This program meets the eligibility requirements for FIDER accreditation at the first professional degree level. The program also qualifies graduates to meet industry standards as established by official interior design professional bodies (IDC, ARIDO, NCIDQ, ASID).

Dawson College
The Dawson College’s Interior Design Department offers the Diplome d’Etudes Collegiales, accredited by FIDER. This program trains its students to identify problems in the function and visual aspect of any interior space and solve them using the students’ creativity and imagination. This program includes training in administrative and communication skills.

Interior Design is a three-year program that prepares students to work as professional interior designers. Dawson College is the only Anglophone College in Quebec to offer Interior Design and it is the only program in the province accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research.

Humber Institute of Advanced Learning & Technology
The Interior Design Program in Humber’s School of Applied Technology offers Diploma of Interior Design and Bachelor of Applied Arts in Interior Design. Graduates of these programs are trained in preparation for leadership roles and a successful career in design, developing and incorporating talent with skills in research, problem solving and the latest technology.

International Academy of Design and Technology
The International Academy of Design and Technology features an Interior Design Program under their School of Interior Design with a Diploma in Interior Design awarded to students who graduate from their program. This institution’s program introduces students to the fundamentals of planning space, the theory and psychology of color, materials, lighting, visual communications, history and technical drawing, including Computer Aided Design.

The graduates from the Interior Design FIDER accredited program and are eligible for membership in ARIDO, (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario). A wide field of opportunities for careers in corporate, retail, hospitality, healthcare, to name a few, are open to the graduates of our interior design diploma program.

Kwantlen University College
A Professional Level Interior Design Program is featured under the Interior Design Department of Kwantlen University College. A Degree of Bachelor of Applied Design in Interior Design is granted to its graduates. Kwantlen’s program includes all the different facets of interior design with a focus on experience and a proficiency in theory, research, analysis, problem solving, concepts of design, drawings, technology, business practices and the consciousness of human needs in developed environments.

The Program is FIDER accredited at the first professional degree level. The Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER) is an international agency whose mission is to “lead the interior design profession to excellence by setting standards and accrediting academic programs”.

St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology
At St. Clair College Windsor Campus, the Interior Design Department features an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design. The program develops the individual’s technical skills as well as the artistic design skills of its students. Graduates leave this institution with the skills and experience that are essential in finding employment with design firms, retail establishments and as entrepreneurs.

The FIDER accredited Interior Design Program at St. Clair College is unique in its advancement in technical areas such as: Computer aided drafting and design, animation, 3D imaging training and application. This program is very active in the Canadian and American Professional Associations offering Student Chapters in both (ARIDO and ASID).

University of Manitoba
The University of Manitoba includes a Department of Interior Design offering a degree of Master of Interior Design. This professional program produces graduates of Interior Design that are eligible to work nationally as well as internationally. The graduates will be at the head of their professions with skills that include social responsibility, research abilities, tactical thinking and an orientation leaning towards ethics and environmental responsibility.

In 1948, the University of Manitoba became the first bachelor’s degree Interior Design program in Canada. The program has been continuously accredited by FIDER since 1974. In 1994 we instituted the first Master of Interior Design in Canada and then in 2002 we offered the first professional MID in Canada.
