The Art Institute of Pittsburgh is the oldest among the Institutes as it was founded in 1921 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This for-profit higher education has had success with producing excellent students who graduated from their design program, particularly in advertising, industrial design, and graphic design, among others. The Interior Design Program of the Institute hopes to achieve the same recognition that the other design programs are receiving by emphasizing the human factors in creating quality and safe interior design.
Program Objectives
The main objective of this interior design school is to help students land entry level positions of their liking who will work their way up by providing effective and efficient product solutions according to the needs of their clients.

Application Requirements
Prospective students who wish to enter this interior design school must be a high school graduate or hold a General Education Development (GED) certificate with a minimum GPA of 2.0 for the Bachelor degree program and 1.5 for Associate degree or diploma programs. Seniors who have yet to graduate can submit a partial record of their academic performance with the expected date of their graduation. During the application process, the school reserves the right to request additional information from applicants that will help the Admissions office to determine their academic success once they get accepted in the Program.
Course Details
The courses offered in the Interior Design Program are optimally balanced to imbibe students with three of the most important aspects of design: form, space, and function. Through this academic framework, students will learn how to turn their own ideas into functional designs as they grow more acquainted with the technical and creative concepts involved in designing interior spaces.
The CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation) Accredited Program will provide students with a hands-on experience using the latest design technologies that will allows them to manipulate the factors of design in a three-dimensional environment. Through the use of computer-aided drafting (CAD), students in the Interior Design Program of the Arts Institute of Pittsburgh will have the ability to explore different showrooms where design elements such as fabric, texture, lighting, and color can be put to the test in order to come up with the most ideal designs.
Also, the Program stresses out the importance of developing a well-rounded portfolio containing designs that aim to show off the diverse set of skills students acquired from the school’s effective educational curriculum. Through this, students who graduate from the Art Institute of Pittsburg will enjoy the luxury of being accepted in any entry level position they wish.
