Prepare for NCIDQ Exam with STEP Workshops |
|
After earning their interior design degrees, design students should now be able to put their knowledge into practice by applying and working for different design firms or independent clients. They are at the point in their lives where they have to shape their careers into their favors by doing exactly what helped them get by through college, and that is to persevere as a budding interior designer. However, everybody knows that a person with a design degree will never be properly acknowledged as a true designer unless he or she has taken and passed the interior design exam, also known as the NCIDQ exam.
The NCIDQ, or the National Council for Interior Design Qualification, is the standard bearer that all interior designers must be part of. The organization ensures that people who practice interior design are actually competent enough to put their careers into profitable ventures. For designers to earn certification, they are asked to register for an online exam that will gauge their knowledge about interior design. However, before the designers can take up the NCIDQ exam, they must have at least six years worth of education and work experience related to interior design, in addition to their interior design degree.
For designers who lack the years of interior design practice, assuming that they have already earned a degree, they must apply for available design jobs in the market to put more experience under their belts. It is imperative to apply what they have learned in school into actual practice and situations in order to not only develop the concepts and techniques they already know about designing, but also acquire new ones as well.
For those who have more than six years of interior design practice and are itching to take up the NCIDQ exam, they must prepare themselves for their biggest test yet as interior designers. As the nature of exams go, the NCIDQ exam can be easy to some, difficult for others, and unpredictable to many. Sometimes, studying all day for weeks won’t necessarily help you pass the exam. Getting by the NCIDQ will need lots of knowledge and a little bit of luck on the part of the examiners.
With that said, the American Society of Interior Designers is offering STEP workshops that will provide them with up-to-date information about the issues and details regarding the NCIDQ exam. The STEP workshops take up about 20 hours of your time over 2 ½ days. The programs will primarily involve a simulated test of the latest NCIDQ exam, as well as workbooks containing multiple-choice questions and practicum answers that needs to be answered and will reviewed by the instructions once finished.
The STEP workshops are held in different parts of America and the upcoming workshops will take place on January 2010. However, it is advised for examiners to take their STEP workshops 4-12 months before the exam in order for the workshops to be conducted properly based on the strengths and weakness seen from your application.
