There are a number of institutions that offer degrees in Interior Design located in Canada. These institutions are very well established and are known internationally in the field of Interior Design Education. Here are some of these institutions.

International Academy of Design & Technology
The International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto, Ontario offers a Interior Design Diploma. The students who graduate from the FIDER accredited program of Foundation Studies in Interior Design, which is also offered in this Institution, will only need to undergo another year of study to be qualified for member ship in the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario. The students of these programs are presented with the basics of planning spaces, theories and the psychology of color, visual communications, Computer Aided Design and a host of other aspects of interior design.

One of the International Academy of Design & Technology at Toronto’s unique characteristics is that it gives students the opportunity to watch professional designers at work and get practical experience before starting their careers. Coursework covers the basics of two-dimensional design and three-dimensional thinking; the study of space planning and human factors in design; color, lighting and material knowledge; and historical reference.

The Art Institute of Vancouver (Downtown Location)
The Diploma course in Interior Design at the Art Institute of Vancouver is designed to provide the students a well balanced understanding of form, space and function. The Art Institute of Toronto
The Advanced Diploma in Interior Design offered at the Art Institute of Toronto requires a Diploma in Residential Design as its prerequisite. The diploma program in interior design provides the students with a hands-on method of education, developing the students’ assets and strong points in designing three dimensional spaces, utilization of light and the perceptive selection of resources and materials for use in enhancing the details of design. The students make use of the principles that govern aesthetics in addition to their skills in problem solving and planning.

The Interior Design diploma program is based on the premise that interior design is both an art and a science, whose purpose is to enhance the quality of life and facilitate human activity. Algonquin College

The Program for Interior Design in Algonquin College is a four year course, requiring full time attendance from the students who aspire to start a career in the professional field of interior design. Algonquin College features a Diploma in Interior Design and  a  degree in Bachelor of Applied Arts in Interior Design.

This program meets the eligibility requirements for FIDER accreditation at the first professional degree level. The program also qualifies graduates to meet industry standards as established by official interior design professional bodies (IDC, ARIDO, NCIDQ, ASID).
