You can obtain either your Associates or Bachelors Degree in Interior Design. Which one you should obtain really depends on your personal goals. If you plan to stay strictly in the area of Interior Decorating then an Associates degree is sufficient. You will earn more than minimum wage and you can work for an Interior Design firm or independently.  However, if you decide you want to pursue work in the area of Interior Design then you definitely want to work towards a Bachelor of Arts degree. This will allow you extra courses so you will be able to efficiently work in the area of both home and office decorating as well as the overall layout of the rooms to get the best possible use from the room. Most employers will select an employee with the Bachelors degree over the Associates. This difference shows plenty of growth in the various areas of Interior Design that can be put to good use in the work environment. Having the Bachelors degree will also help you earn more money. You will find having a Bachelor’s degree rather than just an Associates degree will earn you the respect of potential employers both in the sense of a business and freelance work. You will also have more time to build an amazing portfolio that sells you as a very good Interior Designer. Some individuals choose to get their accreditation under the supervision of another Interior Designer rather than continue on with their Bachelors Degree. While this can be an option keep in mind you will only be learning the concepts that particular individual incorporates. You will be missing out on plenty of other concepts that will be included in the Bachelors program. |
