Interior Decorating Ideas for Different Styles
Living Room Interior Decorating IdeasShould you decide to take matters into your own hands and decorate your home yourself, you may want to search online for interior decorating ideas. Hiring a decorator comes with added expense, which you may well want to avoid. If you do the job yourself, chances are, it will not only bring a great deal of satisfaction on your part, but also capture what you have envisioned for your interior spaces.

What aspects have to be taken into account to become your own interior decorator?

Colors play a huge role when considering interior decorating ideas for your home. Of course, one of the aspects you have to consider when choosing colors is your chosen decorating style. For instance, if you have chosen a traditional style, then colors such as bright reds, blues or yellows would not be your first choice as they do not compliment the said style. The same would apply to fabrics and materials; you would not want to choose bright bold fabrics such as large stripes.

Your choice of lighting would also need to be taken into account when decorating your home. For instance, if you have chosen a contemporary style for your home, then you would not want to hang a crystal chandelier in the room, for it is more at home in the formal style of decorating. Even the placement of furniture will have to be taken into account when designing and decorating your own home. While this may not sound hard, remember that all of these elements have to come together and blend in together to create harmony and a feeling of space.

When looking around for interior decorating ideas you may want to decide on the color scheme first and these are usually grouped together. For instance, you may want to choose to decorate in black and white, use chocolate browns and cream or red, white and blue. These colors complement each other of course and this is what you have to bear in mind.

Traditional – If you are a predictable individual who prefers everything in place and you want to portray a claiming atmosphere, then you may want to choose this style when looking for interior decorating ideas. Furniture used in this style will usually be matching and is generally in the reproduction style. Fabrics are generally of muted colors, with floral patterns being the most popular. Light colors are generally found on the walls with the furniture contrasting this being in dark woods. Steel and bold bright colors such as reds and yellows are avoided.

Contemporary – Contemporary designed rooms are usually bright and airy, while clean lines and textures are usually implemented into this design. Space and shape are generally at the forefront when designing this way. For instance, square couches in white plain fabric go well with complementing throw cushions in navy blue. Any neutral colors are preferred with black and white being a popular choice. Stainless steel and glass furniture is also a popular choice.

Casual – If you want your room to project a feeling of homeliness, comfort, and warmth, then you might want to consider the casual style of decorating and furnishing. Casual rooms are generally simple in their detail, with fabrics being textured. Perfect symmetry of objects and furniture must be avoided. This is generally considered one of the easiest styles when looking for interior decorating ideas that you can undertake and use in your own home.

Formal – A classic example of the formal style of decorating would be the White house. The formal style relies heavily on symmetry in the home with the majority of elements being arranged out in pairs, such as table lamps, tables.

Chandeliers, crystal, polished wooden floors and paneling along with antique furniture play a huge role in the formal style of decorating the home.
