Wentworth Institute of Technology | Interior Design Program
Interior Design SchoolWentworth Institute of Technology is aware that the foundations of a successful career in the future lie in effective and dynamic academic training, something that the school aims to deliver. In a profession such as interior designing, it is important for the educational institution to focus on developing both the student's creative faculties and business sense necessary for enabling them to build their careers from the ground up.

The Interior Design Program of the school is accredited by CIDA, also known as Council of Interior Design Accreditation, which immediately negates any misgivings regarding the caliber of the offered courses in the program. However, to further ensure that the students of Wentworth Institute of Technology under the said program are secured with a solid educational background, below are the other mission statements that the school offers to those enrolled in the program as taken from their website:

  • foster creativity and artistic vision
  • develop fluency with a design process
  • broaden intellectual depth
  • develop technical skills and the craft of making
  • introduce students to the business of design
  • offer the opportunity to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively in teams
  • recognize the broad professional fiduciary responsibilities to the general public including, but not limited to ethical practice, regulatory requirements, and growing public concerns for resource conservation and sustainability.

To maintain the high standards of education set forth by the school for the program, there are certain guidelines that students must fulfill in order to remain with Wentworth Institute of Technology until they graduate. Enrolled students coming into their junior year are required to have amassed and earned at least 65 credits with an average of 2.0 GPA in their freshman and sophomore years. Also, an average of 2.5 GPA is necessary for finished courses that have a INTD and DSGN prefix on them. Finally, in their fourth year, students are supposed to have a portfolio containing works, accomplished or ongoing, related to their focus of design study.
