The Australian 2009 Interior Design Awards winner for Residential Interior Decoration is the Yarra House by Leeton Pointon Architects. It features the unique treatment to a house that has subtle slopes in the interior. Above is a sitting room with an interesting combination of textures in the building materials used as well as showcasing an interesting work of art. The interior design of the Yarra House was also commended for being able to curate the artwork within the house while not undermining the intent of the design.

Car Interior Design - Best Conceptual Interior

The automotive design community held the Interior Motives Student Design Awards 2009 last September at Frankfurt, Germany. Students from schools all over the world submitted their car designs for eight categories. However, Coventry University student Philip Woodman made headlines when his sports vehicle not only win the Best Conceptual Interior award, but also took home the award for Best Design.

Sculpted Furniture for Interior Design Wins in Texas Furniture Show

Texas has been long associated with the tough and the macho, thanks to the stereotypes that stemmed from cowboys and the Wild West. Much of this influence has stretched out to their lifestyles, particularly the predominant rustic elements and sculpted furniture of their interior design. However, during the Tenth Annual Texas Furniture Makers Show this past November, the state was slowly embracing the changes in Texan design when the show awarded the Mesquite Partners Desk sculpted by Lou Quallenburg with the Texas Style Category of the show.
